Face to Face

1 Though I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,  but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Only a shadow.

The world in which we live is only a shadow of what eternity will be like. Life on earth is distorted because of sin and death. What we see is distorted as if we were looking through dark glass. Remember, James 1 states God’s Word is a mirror. Not a mirror that shows us our flaws and sins, but a mirror that shows us who we truly are, what God has created us to be. Now we have partial understanding of God’s Holy Word. But when God finally calls us home, we shall see Him as He is!

Reflected love.

And when we arrive, we shall see reflected in His face the joy and love His heart contains for us. You really find out how someone feels about you when you come upon them unexpectedly, before they have a moment to school their reaction. How blessed we feel when their face reflects joy and happiness.

We shall see Him face to face.

And we shall know Him as we are known by Him. The more we know God, the more we will love Him. We will spend eternity sounding the depths of God’s great love for us. Face to face, heart to heart. Be loved, Beloved.

During these hard days if winter I sometimes long to see my Father face to face. He has given me good work to do on this earth, but sometimes I grow weary in the battle. How I want to please Him and hear Him say, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” That would be everything! Be loved, Beloved!

Mary, yes, sometimes we get weary. But keep on! Now we see dimly, but remember, He sees us clearly and loves us. Amen!!

That podcast is amazing! I took so many things out of it. Here is one of my favorites: the grave wants you in it with all your potential intact. God doesn’t want any potential left in me when I am finally in the grave. He wants me to fulfill ALL of it!! Amen.
