Let’s look at Matthew 5:44. WEB
44 But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
We’ve heard so many times we are to love our enemies — after all, that’s what Jesus would do. But it’s not just what He would do, it’s what He did do. While we were yet His enemies, working against HIm, God loved us even then.
We need to do the same thing. God calls us to love those people whom we consider our enemies because He loves them.
Jane’s Thoughts
Let’s look at Genesis 1:2 WEB.
2 The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep, and God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.
I love the imagery of the Holy Spirit hovering over the waters. The Bible Hub tells us to think of hovering as a mother bird hovering over her nest. What a beautiful image.
Considering the meaning of Holy Spirit in this sentence, the transliteration is Strong’s 7303, which means “spirit, wind, or breath.” Bible Hub goes on to say that in this sentence, Holy Spirit is Ruach Elohim, “active and life-giving, preparing to bring order and life to our world.”
How amazing that the Holy Spirit does the same thing for us. He breathes life and order into our lives too.
